Say it with me, classβ¦ Sorryπ forπ theπ Delay!π
I had a kick-ass September, capped off with an awesome weekend at DIY Street Fair and todayβs Daily Cartoon for The New Yorker. Hereβs a picture of me standing awkwardly in front of my prints for a local paper:
I probably had as much social interaction last weekend as I have the whole year and hoo boy is it draining. Third time in, though, it is still incredibly rewarding to see people take in my work and honestly, was the main motivator for me to quit procrastinating and pitch something this morning.
I also made the genius decision to consolidate my portfolio site and Square site the day before DIY which ended up taking my domain down for 48 hours, so if you grabbed my card at the fair and tried to visit my siteβ¦erm, sorry. Iβm pleased to announce that evanlian.com is back up and running πͺ
What else have I been up to since *checks watch*β¦February π¬? Well, over at TeuxDeux, Iβm eight interviews into my second podcast, Someday List. Iβd try and pick some highlights but each of the guests so far has been incredible, so Iβll just give you a quick synopsis on each of βem and let you pick where to start:
Sarah Kempa, New Yorker cartoonist & UX Designer: on cartooning, creativity, and working on her debut book which comes out October 5th.
Gabriella Palko, Adventure Photographer & Environmentalist: on odd jobs, Alaska, and following the call to adventure.
Sam Ogborn, Founder, Once+More: on legacy brands, social media, and cutting her teeth in digital marketing at Red Bull.
Kevin Wong, Co-founder, Lunar: on entrepreneurship and building the first great Asian-American hard seltzer brand.
Irving Ruan, Writer & Fellow at WarnerMedia: on leaving the world of startups for show biz and working on the upcoming Peacock series, Twisted Metal.
Dan Toomey, Writer + Video Producer at Morning Brew: on comedy and journalism, starting a career in the pandemic, and turning Morning Brew into a TikTok juggernaut.
Fatimah Loren Dreier, Executive Director at The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention: on the epidemic of community violence in America, advising the White House, and how to process and tackle big problems.
Kim Pham, Co-founder, Omsom: on Asian culture, cuisine, and community-centered entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, over at Two Dudes HQ, weβre still chugginβ along and watching hella cartoons π€ Weβre having a blast making the show and have also had an incredible run of guests this year, too many to rattle off. The show is available now in audio AND video formats. Catch up on some highlights on TikTok and subscribe to the show!
Thatβs all I got for now. Catch you next time!
All the best,
